NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A Massachusetts state trooper has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman who he met through an online dating site.
Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, told 22News that Christopher Kennedy of West Springfield was found guilty Friday of all three charges brought against him: assault and battery, indecent assault and battery, and indecent exposure.
Prosecutors allege that Kennedy met the woman online, and she was initially reluctant to allow him to visit her Worthington home. She testified that she decided to have Kennedy over because she thought that she could trust a police officer.
Kennedy’s lawyer had said that the woman had expressed an interest in sexual activities through their chats, and when she asked Kennedy to stop, he did so.
Kennedy has been suspended without pay from the state police while the case has been going on.
He will be sentenced on June 13 at Franklin Superior Court in Greenfield.
