WEST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three high school students died in a car accident in the Worcester County Town of West Brookfield Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s a huge tragedy,” Police Chief C.Thomas O’Donnell said.
The tight-knit community of West Brookfield is mourning the loss of the three teens who died Tuesday. The Worcester District Attorney’s office said their car rolled over when it hit a tree on Douglas Road.
All three victims were students at Quaboag Regional Middle High School in Warren, not far from the accident site.
Many people in town knew these students on a personal level.
“It’s a fact of life in this very small town that you’re going to know everybody and occasionally these things are gonna happen to people you know,” O’Donnell said. “And we’re doing the best we can for the community at large and making sure they can heal.”
One resident told 22News that he believes the community will come together to help the victims families get through this difficult time.
“We’re very upset about it,” James Pierce said. “And we’ll help in anyway we can.”
The cause of this accident is still being investigated. The names of the students haven’t officially been released.
