Cape Cod shark attack victim hopes to be released from hospital soon

The New York man who was bitten by a shark on Cape Cod last month is hoping to be released soon from the Boston hospital where he’s been recovering.

Dr. William Lytton told the Boston Globe he has to have one more surgery before he can be sent home to Scarsdale, New York.

He hopes to be released is at the end of the month from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

The 61-year-old neurologist was attacked Aug. 15 while swimming at a beach in Truro.

Lytton suffered deep cuts on his leg and body before he was able to break free by punching the shark in the gills.
