(AP) — Massachusetts Democrats are gathering in Worcester to help give a boost to their candidate for governor, Jay Gonzalez.
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is among those Democrats who say they’re hoping to build a statewide, grassroots campaign for the November election.
Democratic Party Chairman Gus Bickford is also planning to attend the meeting Sunday at 2 p.m. at Worcester State University.
Gonzalez is trying to unseat incumbent Republican Gov. Charlie Baker. Gonzalez and his running mate Quentin Palfrey have about $215,000 in their campaign account compared to Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito who have about $10 million.
Warren, seeking her second six-year term in office, is trying to fend off a challenge from Republican state Rep. Geoff Diehl, who served as co-chairman of President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign in Massachusetts.
