Gov. Baker announces new security task force for safety at large venues

Massachusetts

The Baker Administration launched a new effort on Thursday, to keep you safe at large venues across the state.

Governor Charlie Baker was at Gillette Stadium Thursday afternoon to announce the creation of a new, large venue safety task force.

The 16-member task force is made up of members of law enforcement, first responders, the National Guard, as well as the Secret Service.

Gov. Baker said the task force will work to identify security risks, as well as draft recommended changes to safety measures.

“It’s incumbent upon all of us to make sure that we’re sharing best practices and we’re working together and doing all the things we can do to ensure everybody’s safety,” Gov. Baker told 22News.

There are two task force members from western Massachusetts: Amherst Fire Chief Tim Nelson and Jason Freeman, the Vice President of Security at Six Flags New England.
