With Halloween just two days away it’s a good time to know who’s living in your neighborhood.

Knowing your neighbors can help ease some worry about your child’s safety on Halloween night before trick-or-treating.

Anyone can check the Massachusetts sex offender database in their town online.

These offenders are not wanted by police, and using the information listed on the database to harass, discriminate against, or harm these individuals is against the law.

Checking the database, however, will allow parents to be more aware of their surroundings while trick-or-treating with their children.

The Orange Police Department said that while not every sex offender is necessarily a threat ot your or your family, it is best to be aware of your surroundings.

Police are advising people to use common sense and good judgment on Halloween night.

There are states that restrict the activity of sex offenders on Halloween, but Massachusetts is not one of them.
