BOSTON (WPRI) – Massachusetts Servicemembers and veterans can now apply online for the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) Welcome Home Bonus.

The Office of the State, Treasurer, Veterans’ Bonus Division launched the online application to streamline the process and expedite bonus payouts.

“Welcome Home” wartime bonuses are awarded to post 9/11 active duty or discharged veterans who lived in Massachusetts for at least six months before entering the military.

Servicemembers and veterans can apply at VetsBonusMA.com. Applicants may be required to upload supporting documents.

“Veterans and military families face unique challenges when it comes to planning for their financial future,” Treasurer Deborah Goldberg said. “Providing the Welcome Home bonus online platform will get money into the hands of veterans more quickly and efficiently, and ensure that every Massachusetts servicemember has the opportunity to achieve economic security.”

In 2018, $1.2 million in bonuses were awarded to Veterans in the Bay State.
