BOSTON (AP) — Organizers of a “straight pride” parade in Boston say they’ve received suspicious letters, prompting a police response in three Massachusetts communities.
State Police spokesman David Procopio said no hazardous materials were found in the packages.
John Hugo, organizer of the event, told WBZ-TV that he and two other members of the group called police after receiving the letters on Monday.
Hugo said one of the members opened a handwritten letter that contained a substance. He said two other organizers also received letters but did not open them.
The items were discovered in Woburn, Salisbury and Malden.
Procopio said an investigation by the FBI, the Massachusetts State Police and local law enforcement officials is continuing into the source of the mailings.
