(WWLP/WPRI) — One of the biggest jackpots in Mega Millions’ history is up for grabs this week while the Powerball jackpot continues to grow alongside it.
The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to an estimated $548 million for the Oct. 12 drawing, which, according to the Massachusetts Lottery, is the third largest in the game’s history and the ninth-largest jackpot in U.S. history.
In the meantime, the Powerball drawing on Oct. 13 will have an estimated $314 million jackpot.
The lump sum payment for the cash option will be an estimated $309.2 million for Mega Millions and $179.4 million for Powerball.
Mega Millions hasn’t had a jackpot win since July 24, when an office pool in California took home $543 million while on Aug. 11, a New York man hit the last Powerball jackpot to the tune of $245.6 million.
Tickets for both games are $2 each and can be played in 44 states.
The next Mega Millions drawing is at 11 p.m. Friday, and you can Saturday night is the Powerball drawing.
