Some Andover residents cleared to return home following gas explosions

Massachusetts

ANDOVER, Mass. (WWLP) – Andover residents are slowly returning to their homes following Thursday’s string of explosions.

According to a news resource sent to 22News, more than half of the streets in the effected areas within Andover have been cleared and residents are now being allowed to return to their homes.

Eversource told the town Saturday morning that of the 2,078 affected gas meters 1,110 of them had been shut down and cleared.

While residents may immediately return to their homes, the city is warning them they may be without gas for some time.

Residents whose homes are in the safe zone and gas was shut off as a precaution are advised to not turn their gas back on, to wait for Eversource to restore service when it is safe.
