Springfield police sends officers to help recovery, public safety efforts in Lawrence

The Springfield Police Department is sending more than a dozen police officers to help with recovery and public safety efforts in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover. 

In a statement to 22News Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri said, “Our police officers will do whatever is necessary to help our brothers and sisters in eastern Massachusetts that are dealing with this catastrophe.”

Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno spoke with Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera and also offered any assistance his team or city may need.  

Springfield Police Officers will work an evening and overnight shift on Saturday into Sunday, and will continue to provide mutual aid in the coming days if needed.
