Stores getting ready for Christmas shoppers

Get ready to trade in your Halloween costumes and dare I say candy for Christmas ornaments and stocking stuffers.

By Thursday, Halloween was on clearance in Cedar Chest as retailers get ready for the next big thing, Christmas!

Assistant Manager Danny Antes of Cedar Chest told 22News, “We just put all of our Halloween on sale, so it’s a great time to grab some goodies for next year. But, then we’re also putting out all of our other categories. So we’ve got some of our woodland garland and cooking themed things, but then everything else starts rolling out through the next few days.”

Thornes Marketplace in Northampton is also getting in the Christmas spirit. However, during this time of year, it can also be stressful for retailers.

“Everything moves so quickly, I think a lot of people actually shop earlier than they use to ’cause you want to get it done so you can actually enjoy the season,” said a shopper.

Which is why Heavenly Chocolate starts making their chocolates as early as two months in advance but the owner said he has no reason to complain.

“It’s exactly what you hope for. This is the time of year when everybody comes out shopping and to see the stores being full and busy, it warms the cockles of my heart,” said owner Bud Stockwell.

For those keeping track, you have 8 weekends for holiday shopping before Christmas.
