Teen wanted for New London, Conn. murder arrested in Massachusetts


NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) – A teen wanted for murder in New London was arrested in Massachusetts early Tuesday morning for allegedly breaking into several homes and cars. 

Halifax police say that at around 3:30 a.m., officers arrested 18-year-old Jamir Johnson, who is suspected in several house break-ins, as well as 54 car break-ins that have been happening in the town over the past few weeks.

During the arrest, Halifax officers found that Johnson has an arrest warrant from New London for a December 9th, 2017 murder, along with possession of a pistol without a permit and unlawful discharge of a firearm charges.

Halifax police say while conducting surveillance, Johnson was seen riding a bicycle through a neighborhood wearing clothes similar to those seen on a surveillance video from one of his victim’s homes, including rubber gloves.

After a short foot chase, Johnson was taken into custody and charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglarious tools, failure to identify, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property and fugitive from justice.

Johnson will be arraigned in Plymouth, Massachusetts for the Halifax charges and held on the Connecticut murder charge.
