AUBURN, Mass. (WWLP) – We now know that the body found on the Mass Pike in Auburn Wednesday was that of a 22-year-old man.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim as Johannes H. Songdahl III, of Norwell, Massachusetts.
The investigation into what led up to the man’s death is ongoing. His severely-injured body was found at around 10:00 Wednesday night on the westbound side of the roadway near Exit 10 in Auburn.
On Thursday, Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said they were unsure how the victim ended up on the highway, as there are no overpasses nearby from which someone could have jumped. There were also no unattended vehicles nearby, and police had not received any reports of a pedestrian on the Turnpike prior to the body’s discovery.
Anyone with information has been asked to call Massachusetts State Police Troop C Headquarters at 508-829-8326.
