Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in I-95 crash

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WPRI) — A Swansea woman was flown by helicopter to a Boston hospital after she suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash Friday evening.

According to the Foxborough Fire Department, the three-vehicle crash took place around 6 p.m. on I-95 South between Exits 7 and 8.

The 53-year-old woman had to be removed from her SUV by first responders using specialized equipment.

The two other drivers, a 28-year-old Warwick woman and a 33-year-old North Attleboro man, were not injured in the crash, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The crash caused significant traffic backups in the area.

Crews cleared the scene by 7:30 p.m.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
