In a short update posted on the Yarmouth Police Department Facebook page, K9 Nero is said do be doing well.
Nero was injured in the shooting that killed his human partner, Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon, on April 12.
“Nero is getting stronger by the day,” Yarmouth Police said. “He is being well cared for by K9 handlers and friends. He still is not fully recovered but his future is bright.”
Nero was released from the hospital on April 18. Yarmouth police say he is staying with an officer who is a close friend of the Gannon family until he is fully healed. At that point, he will return home with the Gannons.
Get well soon, Nero!
