You can sign up to exclude yourself from Massachusetts casino floors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Gaming Commission and the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling are reminding residents of the Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program ahead of MGM Springfield’s opening day.

The Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program allows individuals to exclude themselves from the gaming floor of all Massachusetts casinos for anywhere between six months to a lifetime.

Any person on the exclusion list who is identified on the gaming floor will be escorted from the area and must forfeit any money wagered.

“Research has clearly shown that voluntary self-exclusion can effectively help persons struggling to control their gambling,” said Mark Vander Linden, MGC’s director of research and responsible gaming.

MGM Springfield opens on Friday, August 24.

To enroll in the self-exclusion program, you can either:

  • Contact the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling at 1-800-426-1234 or 617-426-4554
  • Contact the Massachusetts Gaming Commission at 617.533.9737 or at
  • Speak with a GameSense Advisor at a GameSense Info Center (Located at MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino)
