Memorial Day parade cancellations


AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The rain Monday morning has forced several communities to cancel their Memorial Day parades.

22News has spoke to different police departments that have said communities including Agawam, Chicopee, Ludlow, Greenfield, Pittsfield, South Hadley, Westfield, and West Springfield have canceled their parades.

Chicopee, Westfield, Holyoke, Southampton, Pittsfield and South Hadley will still be holding events and ceremonies.

Huntington’s parade will still go on in the rain, according to their Facebook page. It starts at 8:45 a.m.List of cancellations and ceremonies: 

  • Chicopee- parade canceled, ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post 452 at 10 a.m.
  • Westfield- parade canceled, ceremony at south Middle School at 11 a.m.
  • South Hadley- parade canceled, ceremony at South Hadley High School 11 a.m.
  • Southampton- parade canceled, ceremony held at William E. Norris school 9 a.m.
  • Agawam- parade canceled, Veterans will be laying wreaths at locations including Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Bridge and Agawam Center Cemetary
  • Pittsfield- parade canceled, small ceremony at Morningside School at 9:30 a.m.
  • Holyoke- parade canceled, ceremony at the War Memorial Building on Appleton Street 8:30 a.m.
  • Greenfield – parade canceled
  • Chester- services and parade canceled
  • West Springfield- parade canceled
  • Ludlow- parade canceled
  • Northfield- parade canceled, there will be a presentation at the Northfield Elementary School at 10 a.m.
  • Buckland- parade canceled
  • Shelburne Falls- parade canceled
  • Palmer- parade cancelled, services will be held at Converse Middle School at 11 a.m.
