SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – With the anticipation of the casino opening up in Springfield, MGM Springfield is now offering a tuition reimbursement plan for students entering classes at the Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute Gaming School.

MGM Springfield is hoping you’ll take a chance on them. The soon-to-open Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute is located at 95 State Street, on the 9th floor.

22News got a preview on Monday. A room full of table games: craps, blackjack and roulette. MGM plans to hire 450 table game dealers and 110 poker dealers, full and part-time, with a range of shifts.

They hope to hire 250 mostly-local people who take the course here. Springfield resident Angel Ortiz was just hired as an instructor.

“I wanted this job really bad,” Angel Rivera, tables games instructor at MGM Springfield told 22News. “This was like a dream come true for me. I always wanted to be an instructor of tables games. I’ve been in the business for 27 years. I left for Atlantic City and started my career at 18-years-old and 27 years later, here I am.”

MGM said you don’t need any previous casino experience, but they are looking for someone with a great personality who’s focused on customer service.

To be eligible for the program, students have to successfully complete two or more courses at the new gaming school. A successful completion of two or more classes guarantees a graduate an audition with MGM Springfield. Graduates who obtain a job with MGM Springfield, and remain employed with them for one year after the property’s grand opening, will qualify for reimbursement.

“This tuition reimbursement program is a real incentive to anyone considering enrollment in the MCCTI Gaming School,” General Manager of MGM Springfield Alex Dixson said in a release sent to 22News.
