Hundreds gathered in Longmeadow Sunday morning to show their support for those battling Multiple Sclerosis.
MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and body.
350 people participated in Sunday’s MS Walk in Longmeadow which took place at Longmeadow High School.
Over $17,000 was raised during Sunday’s event, the money will go towards working to find a cure for the disease. Participant Wendy Deboise told 22News, she’s happy to see such overwhelming support from people in the community.
“During the whole year when you’re not at something like this there’s zero support really except for the handful of people that know you’re struggling. So it’s cool to look around and see there is a little support,” said Wendy Deboise.
22News Anchor Barry Kriger emceed this year’s walk. The National MS Society is holding 89 fundraising walks all over the country this weekend to benefit those with Multiple Sclerosis.
