GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Franklin County residents are organizing their resistance to a planned natural gas pipeline.
Some 75 people participated on an educational forum at Greenfield Community College Wednesday night.
The Green Campus Committee hosted the event, which featured The Massachusetts Pipeline Awareness Network (MassPLAN) to discuss the proposed Tennessee Gas Pipeline.
Some of the organizers are right in the pipeline’s path, “On my property, it’s all wooded. And so they’re gonna cut a hundred foot swath through the center of my property. And my whole property sits on a sand aquifer,” said Jim Cutler of Ashfield.
Cutler said his property, and neighboring property is on preservation property that would require a legislative majority to allow the pipeline.
MassPLAN is also organizing a legal team to oppose the permit process.
