The home-grown Springfield brand is a culinary program that was created by the Putnam Design and Visual Arts Department. Approximately 72 students participated in the design process to help Springfield Public Schools and Sodexo name the program. A senior at the school, Romero created the winning logo design that was at the ribbon cutting.

A performance by the Sci-Tech Band was held at the ribbon cutting and a presentation from Putnam Vocational-Technical Academy’s ROTC program was also held.
