Nick’s Nest is raising money for suicide prevention research this weekend

News

Nick’s Nest in Holyoke is making a lot of these soft serve ice cream cones this Columbus Day weekend.

Sunday’s 70-degree temperatures combined with a good cause, made for a busy day at the ice cream shop.

All of the money raised from ice cream sales at Nick’s Nest Sunday and Monday will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Nick’s Nest said they donate to a specific cause every year during the last two days of their ice cream season.

“It is something that has affected people in our community and every year the owners generously do donate to a specific cause, that has affected Holyoke residents or the surrounding communities, said Nick’s Nest Manager, Liz Spafford. “This year we chose this.”

Spafford said they decided to extend their ice cream season through Columbus day weekend this year, due to the warmer temperatures in the forecast.
