SASKATCHEWAN, Canada (NBC) – Multiple wildfires continue to burn across northern Saskatchewan, Canada, forcing evacuations of entire communities.

According to Canadian broadcaster CBC, 15 new fires started Friday, bringing the number of wildfires in the province’s north to 107.

CBC said the fires have forced 52-hundred people to evacuate their homes in 20 communities threatened by the wildfires.

The Saskatchewan Premier visited the area Friday and spoke to residents and emergency officials.

CBC says approximately 600 firefighters are battling the fires, from both the ground and air.
