PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – On Sunday, at about 3:35 a.m. Massachusetts state police were called to I-90 eastbound, Massachusetts Turnpike, in Palmer when a tractor-trailer struck a pedestrian.
The area is currently closed and being detoured off at Ludlow exit 54. According to MassDOT, the crash resulted in serious injuries and advises drivers to seek an alternative route.
Massachusetts State Police spokesperson, David Procopio told 22News, “preliminary investigation suggests the pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, was walking in the left travel lane. The tractor-trailer driver, a 32-year-old male, pulled over in the breakdown lane.”
The pedestrian has been pronounced dead and the driver has been uninjured, however, the incident remains under investigation.
