People celebrate Earth Day Sunday at Springfield Museums

News

The Springfield Quadrangle was the place to be for many who celebrated Earth Day. 22News is working for you with what Earth Day means to many people.

The Springfield Museums held an Earth Day festival Sunday to celebrate the planet. Earth Day falls on April 22 each year, and on Sunday people got to celebrate Earth Day on a beautiful spring day.

Earth Day is a day when people celebrate the planet and hold events to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

People at the Springfield Museums celebrated Earth Day by learning about the Earth and nature through fun activities such as making bird houses and environmental exhibits on gardening and planting.

Chris Beck, a Western Massachusetts Master Gardener, told 22News, “Having your yard reflect the area you live in and do all the things that will help your area be successful bring in animals and insects to help survive in the area its suppose to.”

Bettering the environment locally and globally can happen any day of the year, not just on Earth Day.
