Person hit by Amtrak train in Pittsfield area

Amtrak Police are working with local law enforcement to determine how a person ended up getting hit by an Amtrak train Friday evening.

Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams told 22News Amtrak Lake Shore Limited train 448 was traveling from Chicago to Boston at 6:14 p.m. when it came into contact with a person illegally trespassing on the tracks near Pittsfield.

There is currently no word on the seriousness of the person’s injuries.

Abrams said there are no reported injuries to any of the 128 passengers and crew members on board of train 448.

Amtrak and Pittsfield Police are investigating.
