The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is advising travelers heading out for the holiday weekend to plan ahead.

MassDOT is asking travelers to use their “real time” travel tools and to use public transportation between now and the end of the fourth of July holiday.

MassDOT said they are taking steps to facilitate the flow of traffic during the holiday. All roadway construction in Massachusetts will be postponed starting at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3. Construction will resume at the normal start of business on Thursday, July 5.

Free coffee will be served at the 18 MassDOT service plazas from 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, through 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5.
