Simulated active shooter exercises are becoming a familiar safety routine in schools throughout the United States.
On Saturday, the Holland Elementary School was the site for a police training experience.
Officers from the Holland and Sturbridge police departments went through rigorous training to make certain they can cope with any eventuality. Holland’s police chief Bryan Houghey and Chief Thomas Ford of Sturbridge took charge of the training.
Chief Houghey told 22News, “Some scenario training with all officers to better prepare them are part of the continuing technical training to make sure of all our officers are the best prepared officers we can possibly provide.”
In police departments large and small across the nation and here in western Massachusetts, preparedness has become the key to what we all hope never occurs again in the future.
