Police: Springfield woman had a cart full of stolen items

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hadley and Northampton police departments worked together on Friday to arrest two larceny suspects from Springfield.

According to Hadley Police Sgt. Mitchell Kuc, around 2:16 p.m. Friday, the department received a call from Walmart Loss Prevention about a woman, 28-year-old Crystal Medina, who left the store with a cart full of items she didn’t pay for.

When Loss Prevention attempted to speak with Medina, she ran into a car, and the driver, 37-year-old William Dancy, drove off. Sgt. Kuc said Loss Prevent was able to get a license plate number, and a short time later, the car was found on Russell Street, Route 9, near the Coolidge Bridge.

Sgt. Kuc said Dancy stopped for the police at first, but then drove away into Northampton. Hadley Police followed the car, and Dancy eventually pulled over and tried to get away on foot. He was arrested by Northampton Police, while Medina was arrested by the Hadley Police.

Medina will be charged with Larceny +$250.00, and Dancy will be charged with being an Accessory After the Fact, Operating with a Revoked License, Operating to Endanger, Failure to Stop for Police, Resisting Arrest and Speeding.

Both are at the Hampshire County Jail awaiting bail or arraignment.
