Trump proposal a “non-starter”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are calling President Trump’s latest proposal to end the government shutdown a “non-starter.”

 The president has offered temporary protection for 1 million immigrants, refugees and those brought here illegally as children, in exchange for $5.7 billion for his border wall.

 “It’s outrageous and he’s just playing politics and this is a bad deal,” New York’s Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said Sunday.

 Meanwhile, some conservatives are calling the president’s offer “amnesty” for immigrants.
