Porch fire on Belmont Ave in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The Springfield Fire Department was called to a front porch fire on Belmont Avenue on Friday.

Springfield Fire Department Spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News the fire on the second floor was quickly extinguished with no injuries around 2:30 p.m. at 732 Belmont Avenue. Leger said there was under $5,000 in damage

Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad determined the cause to be improper disposal of smoking materials.
