Private funeral, burial for George H.W. Bush set for Thursday

(WWLP) - People across the world were moved when President George W. Bush eulogized his father during Wednesday's state funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington. Thursday, this tribute will continue as our 41st President is laid to final rest in his adopted home state of Texas.

President George H.W. Bush's body was flown to Houston Wednesday evening, and has been lying in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church overnight, ahead of Thursday's private funeral. Following that memorial service, the late president's casket will travel by train to his presidential library in College Station, Texas. That 70-mile journey will take about two and a half hours.

Once the casket arrives, Bush will be buried next to former First Lady Barbara Bush and their daughter, Robin, who died in childhood of leukemia.

A flyover is scheduled to take place over the George H.W. Bush Library and Museum for burial. This will be the largest "missing man" flyover to happen in history. Bush was himself a naval aviator, serving as the youngest pilot in the Navy in World War II.
