Retired Pittsfield Police K-9 laid to rest

Retired Pittsfield police dog K9 Ciro was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon due to an aggressive form of stomach cancer.

According to Pittsfield Police, Ciro retired last fall after 11 years of a dedicated and distinguished career.

His former handler Detective Losaw and family took Ciro to the lake Monday night for his final swim.

Ciro was escorted to the vet Tuesday afternoon by the Pittsfield Police K9 Unit and various other K9 teams from around Berkshire County. Members of the police department also lined up to salute Ciro on his final call.

“Thank you for your outstanding and dedicated service to our community K9 Ciro, we have the watch from here,” Pittsfield police wrote on Facebook.
