Ridesharing apps benefiting from MGM Springfield

News

The opening of MGM Springfield has meant big business for ride sharing apps.

According to Uber, they’ve been doing nearly 2,000 rides a week at the casino.

The company said most of the trips happen between 9 pm and 4 am, with the most popular destinations being hotels around the city, Union Station, and Bradley Airport.

Springfield resident Darryl Green told 22News that the ride sharing apps make the trip to MGM an easy one. He said, “Yeah it is, could be. Everything is pretty convenient. You don’t really need much transportation around here, it’s condensed.”

Uber told 22News they anticipated people would “flock” to MGM Springfield, and worked with the casino to have a designated pickup and dropoff spot to make using the rideshare app as easy as possible.
