The Salvation Army of Greater Springfield is joining thousands of centers nationwide in celebrating the 64th annual National Salvation Army Week.

The week serves as an opportunity for western Massachusetts residents to think about ways they can give back to their community.

“For more than 150 years, the Salvation Army’s central purpose has remained steadfast—to respond to human need arising from poverty and other hardships,” Major David Moore of the Greater Springfield Salvation Army said in a news release sent to 22News. “Every day, right here in the Springfield area, there are innumerable individuals and families who depend on our charitable services for their basic health, safety, even survival.”
