(WXIA) Sloping concrete ramps supported by beams form and elaborate skate park under Atlanta’s Interstate 85.
The skate park was found just beyond where a portion of an I-85 overpass collapsed last week in a massive fire. The only problem? The Georgia Department of Transportation never approved it.
Pallets of concrete mix sitting under tarps, stacks of plywood laying about and other construction materials are strewn under the section of the highway.
Andrew Rodriguez is a regular skateboarder and said he discovered the park just a day after the collapse.
“It’s pretty solid,” Rodriguez said after giving the ramps a try. He says it’s one of the nicest skate parks he’s ever been on and is like a piece of art. “It definitely looks like it’s done by people who know what they’re doing.”
