EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a who’s who of Democratic politicians on Saturday in East Longmeadow.

State Senator Eric Lesser, who is running for reelection was joined on the campaign trial by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Warren fielded questions about Donald Trump, and a potential challenge to her seat by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling.

But 22News wanted to know her plans to make education more affordable. “$1.3 trillion outstanding in student loan debt. Right now the U.S. Government is making a profit off the backs of people who have to borrow money to go to college. That is obscene,” said Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Warren went on to say that state schools need to be more affordable and that investments need to be made at the state and federal level.

She said taxpayers are not investing as much in the universities so the burden has shifted to families.
