Chicopee police are trying to determine what caused a car to crash into two utility poles Saturday night.
Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News officers were called to the accident at 10:20 p.m. and found the car resting between the two utlity poles.
The force of the impact almost sliced the car in half when it hit the pole.
Wilk said the driver was a 66-year-old man from Springfield. The man was the only person in the car and sustained serious injuries.
The driver was taken to Baystate Medical Center where they are now listed in stable condition.
The police accident reconstruction team is still investigating the crash at this time. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
