Several Hartford Line trains were delayed Tuesday

It took a little longer for Hartford Line riders to get to new New Haven and Springfield Tuesday.

The Hartford Line twitter page posted delays for several Springfield and New Haven bound trains beginning after midnight. Delays ranged from 5 minutes to an hour. One Springfield rider told 22News the trains are typically always on time.

“I’ve been traveling almost for six months, every month I travel over there,” said Nelson Zaya of Springfield. “I’ve never had delays or any problems with it.”

A train that was scheduled to arrive in Springfield at 9:47 was cancelled, due to “unforeseen circumstances.”Affected riders were told to take this Amtrak train, which arrived at Union Station around 10:30. According to the CT DOT, more than 2,000 riders take the “CT Rail line” to Springfield, Hartford, and New Haven each day.

22News contacted the Connecticut Department of Transportation asking what caused the delays. We are still waiting to hear back.
