Shoppers, businesses feeling the pressure during holiday season

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The countdown is on.

We’re less than 20 days away from Christmas. As the day gets closer the stores get busier.

December is the busiest month for holiday shopping and the biggest month of the year for many retailers.

Some shoppers try to go earlier in the month to avoid the last minute crowds.

According to the National Retail Federation, 34 percent of shoppers plan to buy their last gift before December 18.

That was the plan for one Easthampton resident who finished his shopping at Kohl’s Sunday morning.

“It’s done we are done with it,” Easthampton resident Jacob Berezin said. “If you wait too late then the things you want run out you don’t get them. If you go too soon, then you’re not able to get the deals the stores actually have.”

But not all shoppers at Kohl’s had a plan like Kyle O’Connell from Holyoke.

“I have not done anything yet, I am so late to it all. Hopefully, I can do it soon I don’t have any ideas of what to get people so that’s the hard part,” O’Connell said.

According to the National Retail Federation, 53 percent of consumers plan to shop on the last Saturday before Christmas; December 22, also known as Super Saturday.
