CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The National Weather has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of western Massachusetts, which goes into effect on Saturday, December 17th.
According to the NWS, the advisory will be in effect from 1:00AM to 3:00PM in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties, and from 1:00AM to 1:00PM in Berkshire County. A Winter Weather Advisory means western Massachusetts can expect snow, sleet, or freezing rain.
22News Meteorologist Brian Lapis is forecasting a snowy Saturday morning, with the steadiest and heaviest snow happening from 7:00AM to 10:00AM. He said by 11:00AM, sleet and rain will mix in with the snow.
Overall, all of western Massachusetts could potentially get 3 to 8 inches of snow, according to NWS. The worst time to travel on Saturday will be in the morning, due to the potential for slippery roads, so make sure to use caution when driving.
