Springfield police recover four illegal firearms


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police recovered four illegal firearms this weekend.

One of those firearms was recovered from the man arrested in connection to the shooting of Officer Edwin Irizarry.

Springfield Police spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News that 30-year-old Palmer resident Scott Richard and 30-year-old Isaiah Santiago of Holyoke were arrested Saturday on Sumner Avenue.

Both men were charged with carrying a firearm without a license.

Two more arrests were made on Chestnut Street Saturday evening, and police recovered two more illegal firearms.
