SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A cone zone alert for drivers in Springfield. Crews for the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission will begin construction at two locations in Springfield starting Monday.
From 7 in the morning until 4 in the evening private contractors will be out making water and sewer upgrades.
Island pond road at the intersection of Arcadia Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield will be reduced to a single lane.
Arcadia Boulevard will be closed to through traffic. This work is expected to continue for about 2 weeks. One driver told 22News this particular area is known to be busy.
Meshell Clark, of Springfield told 22News, “Definitely right by Arcadia Boulevard. It’s stagnant and it’s at every angle. It’s definitely going to be a problem that’s all I gotta say.”
Construction on Hancock Street from State Street to Lebanon Street in Springfield will also start Monday. This work is expected to continue through the fall.
