Rallies were held across the country on Thursday as part of Indivisible’s National Day of Action.

The CD-1 Progressive Coalition staged a rally in Springfield, calling on the new Congress to pass a proposed democracy reform bill.

The CPC Springfield rally was held Thursday afternoon outside Congressman Richard Neal’s office at the Federal Courthouse on State Street.

About two dozen people held signs and voiced their concerns over voting rights, Medicare, and other democratic reforms proposed in the HR1 Bill.

“There are a lot of issues important to us and to the country and we want to help him to make, sure some of this happens,” said David Greenberg, rally organizer. “Like single-payer and HR1 and Richie will hopefully help us solve these problems.”

Protesters also spoke about issues in western Massachusetts, like the lack of broadband access in rural Franklin County communities.

Greenberg said they will talk about their concerns with Neal’s staff on Friday.

A similar rally is being held Thursday night outside Congressman Jim McGovern’s Office in Northampton.
