Large turnout in South Hadley as early voting period ends

Boston Statehouse

Friday was your last chance to vote early in Massachusetts

In South Hadley, 19 percent of the town’s registered voters have already cast their ballots for Tuesday’s election.

South Hadley is known for their high voter turnout. They won an award in the last presidential election for having the highest voter turnout in western Massachusetts, more than 90 percent.

Voters had from October 22 to November 2 to vote early in person. Between early votes and absentee ballots, more than 2,200 people have already cast their votes in South Hadley, which is around 19 percent of the town’s registered voters.

“Very busy, each day was equally as busy as the last,” Election Warden Judi Dorsett told 22News. “Today there was a flood of people in here.”

In West Springfield, around 1,600 people cast early votes, which is around 9 percent of the city’s registered voters.

If you will be voting absentee, your ballot needs to be received by your local election office by noon on Monday.
