Mass Home Care connects Massachusetts seniors with service providers in their area.
Part of Thursday’s State House presentation centered on ways home care workers help the elderly while enabling them to maintain their independence.
“When somebody becomes aware that somebody might be in need of help we can respond, that might start with providing information, that might start with somebody saying ‘yes’ I do need a little bit of help lets get some services in place and then we’re able to follow that person,” Lisa Gurgone, the Executive director of Mass Home Care said.
Mass Home Care handles everything from information on Medicare and Meals on Wheels to Laundry and Home Cleaning Services.
Most of the resources they provide are eligible for reimbursement through the state.
Since 2015 the elderly population in Massachusetts has nearly doubled, a trend that home care specialists see continuing.
