(NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the state will keep the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island open during the current government shutdown.
Parts of the federal government shutdown at midnight Saturday after lawmakers and President
Donald Trump failed to pass a bill to keep the government running.
New York will pay $65,000 a day to fund National Park personnel and the cost of operations for the two monuments. The state has done this before during previous government shutdowns.
