BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – A Substance Abuse Awareness Luminary Vigil will be held on the Belchertown Common Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
According to Jill Panto of the Belchertown Opioid Task Force, eight Belchertown residents have died from substance overdoses so far this year.
“The purpose of the luminary vigil is to come together as a community that cares; to grieve the tragic loss of life to the opioid crisis, to support family and friends, and give hope to those fighting to recover from addicition,” Panto said.
Those who wish to attend the vigil will receive a free luminary bag with a candle. Starting at 6:30 p.m., attendees can participate in Narcan training and will receive free Narcan.
