People across the state are getting ready to or have already started to travel for Thanksgiving.
One of the most popular ways to travel for the holiday is by plane, leading to a high volume of passengers at the Bradley International Airport in Connecticut.
Bill and Kelly Fowler of West Hartford were waiting for their son’s flight from Los Angeles. They hadn’t seen him since last summer.
“It’s very exciting, we’ve been on cloud nine for the last three days waiting for him,” said Bill Fowler. “We’re very excited, absolutely.”
According to Bradley International Airport spokesperson Alisa Sisic, the airport will experience a heavy travel period from Monday to Sunday with the busiest days being Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
There are several ways for people traveling to help their journey be quick and smooth. Sisic said one thing passengers can do is to get to the airport early.
People who are traveling domestically are advised to get there 90 minutes early, while those who are traveling internationally should get to the airport three hours before their flight leaves.
Passengers can also do the following things to speed up their travel:
- Check and confirm your flight status online before leaving for the airport
- Check in with your airline online
- Bring a printed boarding pass to the airport
- Know your airport’s parking options and terminal facilities
- Know TSA guidelines
